Joe's HP 9915 Computer

Created 1/3/98

Now here is a really strange one! The 9915 is a HP 85 with no keyboard and no display! The 9915 was intended for remote computing with no operator interface. My two 9915s were used for aircraft flight testing. The 9915 uses the standard HP-85 interfaces, ROMs and RAM cartridges in it's back end . If you ordered the Option 001, you got a standard HP tape drive added to the front panel. Strange as it may seem for computer that is designed and built to operate with no keyboard or display, there were optional keyboard and display interfaces. These were available as Option 002. Both of my 9915s have these options. The video port is a standard BNC connector and connects to standard HP 82912 or HP 82913 monochrome monitor. The keyboard connector is a DB-25 connector and only connects to a HP 98155 keyboard. I have not been able to locate one of these keyboards. If anyone has one knows I would appreciate hearing from you. I have no idea what the connector marked control is for. If anyone knows please tell me.

Shameless Plea, If anyone has anymore information, manuals, parts for the HP 9915 or even the computers I would like to hear from you.

Many thanks to Randy Jenkins for locating these two rarities for me.
