Joe's Workshop/office/warehouse

Created 8/14/2003

Several people have asked me where I work on all of my old computers at and where I have room to keep all of this stuff. So I decided to throw up this webpage and pictures to show everyone. I use a warehouse that belongs to a friend of mine. It's a 20,000 FT2 warehouse and there's LOTs of stuff (and more stuff) stored in there including a bunch of old Cadillacs and Lincolns that my friend collects. He also collects all kinds of old test equipment. Another of the guys that he lets use the place collects spacecraft and missile parts (we're only about 25 miles from KSC). Here are a couple of the more interesting items (to me at least!) in there, a HP 9000/520 computer and a full up HP 1000 computer.

My office isn't quite as bad. OK maybe it is. Here are some pictures of my latest projects;

  1. Restoring some HP 1000 computers. The top of this rack has a Floating Point Processor Unit, next is an E-series HP 1000, then a hole that's waiting for an F-series HP 1000, then an Expansion Chassis and finally another E-series 1000. Behind it on the right is a HP-85 and disk drive. Barely visible on the left is an Intel MDS-230.
  2. One of my lastest projects is a Radio Shack Model III computer that I picked up last week. The Intel MDS-800 and terminal on the right are working and are left over from a previous project.
  3. an Under the table is an Intel 320 (left), two MDS-800s and an Intel disk drive that I'm working on and behind them are three more HP 1000 computers.
  4. and a bunch of Intel Intellec MDS computers (no picture yet).

I've also got a big pile of 8" floppy drives that I'm trying to test and repair. Also waiting their turn are some external TRS-80 disk drives (left) and a HP 1000 power supply (top).

And of course there's plenty of test equipment laying about too. Here's more test equipment, parts bins and some Intel MDS keyboards in the foreground.
