Only fairly early drives have problems with CD-Rs. Problems
with CD-RW lasted much longer, because they're much further from
the CD-ROM spec (very low contrast ratio). To this day, some
CD-ROM drives have trouble with CD-RW, though not nearly as many
as used to.
