This is a misconception? Or are you quibbling by not saying "of
nontrivial size" or some such?
If you really think it is a misconception and not based on such a
quibble, what is your basis for thinking so?

Actually, they do, provided you define "failure" so as to include
"failure to meet user expectation", that being the predominant failure
mode in end-user PCs these days.
