Ah, okay--that makes sense if it is.  A couple of months ago, someone
posted a link to a fellow who rebuilds these things "like new" quite
reasonably.  Mostly, he does audio and video work, but there's no good
reason that he can't do the HP capstan.  A google may turn him up.
