In this case, I think the 'idiot' moniker is thoroughly justified. It doesn't
require a rocket scientist (or a nerd ;) to realize that people who bid in
that manner often pay more than they intended [because they catch auction
fever], and that you need to bid what you really, really will pay and you'll
be bound to get something at the right price.

It is, for lack of a better term, idiocy to think otherwise. A little bit
of thought would have sufficed on their part.
