Making large numeric displays

Nice idea BUT ...

This is ClasicComp where many of us pay storage fees to keep old computers from the scrapper.
With that in mind, just how many old laptops would have to give their lives to complete the project at 1 segment 
per laptop.

Finding that many laptops with matching tubes and and inverters would be a project !

I know may of the early laptops used the same generic inverter and tubes 
but at the least, they would all need to be pulled from the same size screen.

Due to the exploding battery problems, I think we will see a large supply of soon to be old laptops
all with missing or dead sony batteries in the next few years.
