3.5" disk storage

Once full of disks, the columns of disks don't move much side-to-side.  
If you leave a little slack in the columns, you can flip through the
disks to find the ones you want.  Obviously this works better if the
columns are full of disks (you don't want one column full and the
others empty.)  But as you say, they've served well for stacking, 
dust prevention, and easy access.  And the boxes only cost a few bucks each.
