I used to have (and may still have somewhere) the VAX-11/780  
microcode manuals - we'd planned to add some extra instructions to  
speed up an application so I investigated this. In the end we just  
waited and got a faster VAX :-)

Totally off topic but Ethan did you have a chance to look at the  
eclipse today? Typical Melbourne weather cloudy most of the  
afternoon :-(
