It's funny you mentioned that.  I was thinking the exact same thing.  I
often did PL/1 in a mostly Cobol shop and after a while they gave my
sheets to the one of the more adept ladies (and they were 100% women,
which seems odd now).  I always tried to make her feel special - because
she was to me - she could tell the difference between - and _ and
the was not afraid to hit the ; key.

We had a pretty mixed group of programmers (men and women) but the
keypunch and key-to-tape group was 100% women.  And they were *good*.
