I should explain that this was supposed to be a forward-looking position 
with an innovative, cutting-edge group. My concern here was that their 
"forward-looking" might only equate to 1996 in my personal timeline.

FWIW I took the job. It's been both not as bad and far worse than I 
could have imagined at the time...

Having roamed off-topic, and having hopefully extracted an extremity 
from my oral cavity, we now return to our regularly scheduled list
