Well, to be fair, as in vintage computers, there's a "time effect".  
I remember the first time that I heard FM (monophonic) broadcast 
radio--I was blown away by the fidelity.  I probably wouldn't think 
much of the same sound now, but emotions can stay with you a very 
long time.  Similarly, I think the speed of a CDC 7600 mainframe 
would seem glacial to me now.  Memory is a funny thing.
