I'm not sure if anyone else has replied to this...

You would be very well advised to desolder it entirely.  The first time 
the emulator does something that the CPU wouldn't, you could fry the 
CPU.  Even if the emulator just blocks certain signals, this could 
affect what the CPU does next, or when it does it.

Oh, and when you put the CPU back, put it in a socket.  In fact, put the 
socket in first and plug the emulator into it; then don't remove the 
socket when you return the CPU to service.
