I wonder if being occasionally used extends their lifetime? I've got
a Quantum 540 that's been in more or less consistent use (powered up
every couple of months) and it's given no hint of problems. Maybe I
should hook up the nearly-new ST506 that's been sitting in my parts
cabinet for over 20 years to see if it even spins up.
