For some odd reason, the islands that probably have the most "Save the
Planet"-type bumper stickers per capita, a steady supply of wind, and
lots of sun... are powered by diesel generators. Using diesel shipped
from the mainland.

Hawaii is a strange (but beautiful and interesting) place, as I
learned on my 3-month work stint in Maui.
