For USB, you have even better options.
    - Wellon - is a CHEAP programmer from China. I have the VP-280 (48 pin)
and it costed me 100 bucks. Program everything but the older chips (e.g.: It
programs almost any MCS-51 chips, but no 8751/48/49/etc). Tests RAMs, works
with BPROMs (things that most newer programmers don't) and go as low as 2716
(no 2704/08). There are higher models who program everything, but in the
price range of a way better...
    - ...BEEPROG from ELNEC. This is the best programmer I've ever seen. It
programs EVERYTHING. Period. But costs a nice sum of money. If you're lucky
you can find a beeprog (not plus) or a labprog 48+ in ebay. If you find two,
save one for me, it costs around $300 used
    - Willem USB - don't have, haven't seen it, but I know that exists and
it is a free design.

I'm mostly satisfied with my wellon! :o)
