I [don't] hate E-Bay (was Cromemco 68000 on ebay)

Ho,

I have been quiet till now.

I admit using snipe services - My logic:

1) I will bid a small amount to indicate my interest.
2) Because I am rarely up at 2am when auctions finish, If I believe that
an item is worth $400 to me, I will use a snipe service to bid on my
behalf a best bid just before close.

If the auction is over the amount - I loose - Happens more often than
not. If the auction is under my bit, I win, based on my best bid.

My problem with Ebay is that auctions are not extended if there is
interest. If I start with a $300 bid, early, then invariably, the
auction will trickle up to that amount, purely because people will try
$20, discover that failed, then $30, then $40 etc...

I Love DOLA here in Australia. If somebody places a bid at just before
the Auction closing time, it is automatically extended by 5 minutes, to
allow people a chance at placing a counter bid.
