There was a two-part construction article "Build the Party Line" by 
Thomas E. Black in the January and February 1996 issues of Electronics 
Now.  Unfortunately the source code for the firmware was not provided.  
The object code was downloadable from the Gernsback BBS, which I'm 
guessing is no longer in existence.  However, I don't think it would be 
hard to write replacement firmware.
