OT? Scrapping electrionics (was Lot of PDP-11/84 on ebay in Boston)

My local recycler used to charge people to take their scrap, ever since 
Goodwill and Dell took it for free they have been paying for scrap. They 
still charge you to pick stuff up. Seems like people who refurb machines are 
now fighting over the scraps.
