I'd assumed it was a dust cover shaped to fit fairly closely on a VT100
terminal. Such things (for all sorts of desktop computers, terminals,
printers, etc) were not uncommon at ome time, but are not easy to get now.
If it is that, I can understand why somebody might want it in their
collection.
