Many catalogs referred to D-shell connectors as "socket" or "pin" (DB-25S,
DB-25P) for a long time because the terms "male" and "female" were
potentially confusing. Is the shell male/female? Are the connections
themselves one or the other? What about those Sun connectors that have some
of both in the same shell?
