Stupid Mac Ethernet question

The simplest solution should not be overlooked... are you positive that 
that cables are wired correctly? Straight through / crossover, + to +, 
etc.? I see this once in a while. (Also - Some routers can tolerate 
reversed connections, others cannot.)
