They are still being manufactured believe it or not, largely for the
educational market.

very long time.  Heck, I don't even have stereo equipment that plays 
cassettes.

All I need is one good playback, so I'm not too concerned,  But in the 
last 20 years CD has supplanted cassette, and I can't say that I'm
upset.
