OT Monitor glass question

I can only assume from the overwhelming lack of response that either 1. 
there is nothing to worry about, or 2. it is so dangerous that I am a 
complete moron for even asking the question in the first place.

I'm open to either answer :-) if someone would just confirm one of them...
