How to archive a 16mm film of an RCA 501

There are professionals who know what they are doing with film
restoration,  such as nilesfilmmuseum.org, monaco labs, etc

If you don't mind risking total loss of the original, could try cleaning
it with TCE, etc.  If you want to play with it yourself, I've got a reel
to reel film developing tank.
