Need an Elston analog video board for VT100

Two questions : 

1) Why do you need a new board. Unless it's actually missing, it's very 
likely the old board can be repaired, almost all the components on it are 
standard

2) If you do ened a replacement board, why does it have to be that brand? 
The 3 boards I've seen are all directly itnerchangeable.
