But not "officially" documented, and based entirely on variations in

20+ years ago, I saw a mention in an article in Microcornucopia? or
Programmer's Journal? that mentioned "Intel official" method.
The author split town, and when I tried to verify with intel, I bounced
around a lot of people before I got through to somebody who understood.
And asked me to send him a copy if I found it.
It wasn't until much later that intel started including a processor ID.
