I'm a wire-wrap and soldering iron kind of guy, a premade PCB would take half the fun out of it :) I really appreciate that this is designed around components that are within the realm of a solder-slinger like myself. I'm good with through-hole, I have an EPROM programmer. Never worked with CPLD's, and I don't know VHDL. Z80 assembler, on the other hand...
I'm stoked about it. I do a lot of service work on headless systems,
and not having to haul a[n old] laptop around for a serial terminal will
be a huge boon. There's a keyboard just about anywhere, and I envision
a "production" model with, say, a 5" LCD in the case, running on
batteries. Literally a shirt-pocket terminal.

P.S. - well, then there's still the cubic yard of cables,
gender-changers, and pin/socket adapters I'll still need for
compatibility. :\
