It wasn't?    We called in email in the 1980s
What difference do YOU consider important?

Spam?    (howzbout DEC product announcement? (5/2/1978 according to
Stefferud); it and the responses sure looked like email to me)

"ransom-note" abuse of fonts?

dancing kangaroos?

Microsoft Outhouse?
