I haven't looked at the AC circuitry in the C64, is it dependent on
the input being AC?  I've a fair amount of equipment that ships with
an AC wall wart that is perfectly fine with DC.  If all the AC is
doing is feeding a rectifier that can handle the full current through
any path, DC would probably do the job.

If there's actual items that require AC (transformers, things that
generate clocks from the AC), then, of course, it won't work.
