OT: composite video on 1/8" connector

Yellow is a standard colour for composite video (or luminance + sync) in 
consumer video stuff.

I would be very suprised if _anything_ was damaged by feeding in a 1V 
signal, which is all composite video is. I'd give it a go, most lilely 
it'll work fine.
