I was expecting the jetlan card to add some menu options to the printer, but
it looks like that didn't happen. I think you need the software. The
printer predates (the wide-spread use of) the internet. In the past, I've
found that old but uncommon information like that just didn't make it out
there.
It's not a big deal. I can always use a parallel cable.
