No, not at all. All data lines are unidirectional (e.g. READ DATA,
WRITE DATA, WRITE GATE). We're just matching the drive specs of the
two devices. You could, if you wanted, insert a schmitt trigger
device on the read data line for some conditioning (e.g. 74LS14).
