The 2N5771 looks promising on paper.
It is made using "Process 65" which is the same as what was used for the
2n3639.
The 2N5771 is no longer made, but still available from various sources.
I will try to get a few for testing and report back how it went.

It's not too hard to find the plastic versions of the 2N2369, the PN2369.
Mouser has them and so does electronic Goldmine.
