Or the glue didn’t hold any more!
I remember a news item when the Yugo was introduced where the gearshift liver was glued
to the transmission, and that was failing.
I loved my Saturn SL2, but it entered its twilight when the gearshift literally
snapped off when I turned from 101 onto 152, about 170K miles on it by then.
Fortunately it was in 1st gear so I managed to limp back across the highway
(garnering much abuse) to the dealer, where they were flabbergasted and took
all week to repair it. Now I wonder how it was attached but they never said.
