And of course
the younger generation (as always) views anything that
 isn't on the "bleeding edge" of anything, as unworthy or useless. 
 Well, not always.  I started deliberately collecting older systems when
 I was in college--around 1994. 
 
And in my case, I used my Commodore 64 as my only word processor right up
until I graduated high school in '93. My parents finally got their first PC
around that time.
