Ahh, but learning what?
I am quite passionate about learning new languages. I speak a tiny
smattering of half a dozen; I would like to get them all to fluency
and add a few more. I am vaguely considering doing a degree in it.
I would love to learn to surf, to snowboard, to hang-glide, to fly a
helicopter, to play several musical instruments and many other things.
In my case, the only things I _want_ to learn releate to
electronics/computing/enginering/etc. I'd learn other stuff if I had to dor
soem reason, but I probably wound't do it for fun.
So I'll happily read about differnt ways to design a particular circuit,
or how to use machine tools, or OS internals. Or optical design, clock
escapements, camera shtuter dseign. But I am not going to take up
hang-gliding....
It's the arcana of the next generation of Windows,
or of this year's
Linux desktop, that I am growing tired of.
Now thatI can fully understnad :-)
