You can use MACRAW
 simultaneously to the TCP/IP mode.

Having a chip with an embedded IP stack is useful for a lot of things; I
tried to convince the powers that be at my employer back in 1990 that we
should develop and sell such a chip.  But when you're trying to emulate
a DEUNA, DEQNA, DELUA, or DELQA, it seems like it would only get in the
way, since those interfaces operate at the Ethernet frame level.
