I have been told that the 2000 was also unreliable because of this. I've
never looked at the detailed design, though. Until the release of the
CDC 6600, the follow-on Philco 212 was one of the fastest machines in the
world. It would be interesting to find detailed hw docs on the 212. CHM
has a CPU, but no detailed drawings of it.
