 I don;t know how long said parties last, but let's be generous and say 6
 hours. That's 360 minutes. If you invited 360 people (that's 'hundreds')
 you;d only soend, on avverage, 1 minute with each of them. That doesn't
 sound very friendly to me.
 Persoanlly I'd rather attend smaller gatherings where I get to spend
 enoguh time with those present to have a reasonable discussion about
 somehting of mutual interest.  Even then I often feel I've not spent long
 enough with each person.
