In case anyone is interested, I whipped up a little CARDIAC
simulator as a JavaScript exercise last night. You can find
it at:

If you were at VCFSE this past May, you may have seen a
short presentation I gave on the CARDIAC. If you're not
familiar with it, it was an educational tool developed at
Bell Labs back in the '60s to teach how a computer operated.
CARDIAC stands for CARDboard Illustrative Aid to Computation.

Nice. I have a real CARDIAC but it got some water damage and isn't as
nice as it used to be.

Nice job Brian, I've actually got two CARDIAC's, one un-opened because when
I opened the first one I realized it smelled just like Bell Labs and I
didn't want to spoil that for whomever got the second one :-) On my list is
to print up some plastic pieces to implement their simple system (PLADIAC?)
sort of like EMSL's homage to the Digicomp but in plastic.

I still have my Cardiac. It was a gift from my 5th grade teacher at the end
of the school year. Showing a little wear & tear but in pretty good shape.

It has survived several moves better than I might have
expected. I'm hoping to write up a more complete
page on it, including some examples for the simulator.
But my priority the next few days needs to be getting
ready for classes next week.
