The KERNAL ROM in my Commodore SX-64 took a dive, and I don't have a spare.
Far as I know it can be replaced with simple 8K PROM/EPROM.
I've got the correct .BIN file - is someone willing to make a kernal ROM
chip for me? If you don't have a suitable chip in your stock, I'm sure I
can turn one up on ebay and have it sent to you.
(And no, it's not the same as the C-64 kernal rom.. close but not
identical.)

New subject: RX33 alignment issues?
Just got some RX33 floppies in and noticed that the alignment is off in
all of them. No real problem--I can "unalign" a drive to handle them,
but I'm wondering if this was a common ailment in those drives.
Anyone?

the SX64 is a special one. It uses a 24 pin 2364 ROM
or a 2564 (I think that is the number) 28 pin ROM. Neither are pin
compatible with a 27XX(X) 28 pin EPROM. An adapter needs fashioned
(disclosure, I sell such adapters) for an EPROM, so plan on that. Many
sites show the wiring (GOogle 2364 adapter schematic, or similar)
Not to solicit business per se, but if you're interested in an EPROM and
adapter, I am happy to sell both and burn a copy of the SX64 BIN to it
for you. And, since I'm a greedy capitalistic pig, I can also try to
upsell you on JiffyDOS, which plugs in and speeds up the SX64 immensely
(and comes with the original ROM image as well :-)

In the past, I've gotten some from ARBA Electronics in Montreal
(certainly worth an email). I wouldn't be surprised if Anchor in the US
still had a few on hand.
My Superpro and EZ-EP both handle them with no complaints (I haven't
checked my old Sunshine) Other than a very cheap Chinese programmer,
I'd be suprised to find a legacy programmer that didn't use them.

It also appears that the Cypress CY7C264 will also work, though I
haven't tried it. eBay has several vendors selling them for about the
same price as a plain-Jane 2764.
I'd stay away from the Chinese vendors, though. You never know what
you'll wind up with.
