From the responses I have had it sounds like my
suspicion that later
designs
added something to keep the part cool may well be
correct. I will see if I
can
insert a resistor by bending the CLK pin out of the
socket (I have spares
if I
break it) and see if I have a suitable resistor to
hand.
The VT101 uses a 68 ohm 1/4W resistor. I don't have one of those "in stock",
but I do have 100 Ohm 1/4W. I have a 33 ohm but not sure if this might be a
big high wattage one, I will have to check tomorrow. I guess I can try both
to see what happens.
