Even a 360 would almost require another transformer at the poll . You could
heat your house.
The 370/145 had a power draw of about 2KW, but must have had
an INSANELY bad power factor due to the lightly-loaded huge
motor in the motor-generator set. There was a 370/115 at
the bottom of the hierarchy, I think it had an 8-bit data
path, so power consumption would have been less.
Really, the power draw is not that huge, but the power
factor is a huge problem. Of course, for my friend, he
would have had to come up with a disk controller, tape
controller, unit record controller and comms controller.
Totally insane to think he'd get that running in a spare
bedroom!
