The site has been down for a long time.
Very sad, this was the site i used to skip class and read all day long in
the library in school. Really got me interested in old hardware like the
commodore 64 and apple 2.
Not sure if there is any way to connect with the site owner and offer
assistance.

Correct answer is no.

Libraries to write website scrapers are pretty common these days. I
took a quick look at my
links database and there are at least 30 that are
actively maintained
and in common use these
days. There are also a few books out there on
writing website scrapers,
which might account
for why they act so similarly.
Of course, asking ChatGPT or the like to write a scraper for you would
result in scrapers that
act pretty much the same as well.
