When I arrived at Rice University in 1973, they still had their
Burroughs 5500 and were doing research with BCPL. I was simply
too late to participate in it (the 5500 was retired after my
first year). But if you find some 70-something-year-old Rice
graduates you'll still find fondness for the language.
